FIRE HOSE COUPLERS
The Fullerton Nut coupling system is not a "start-up".
- It is production ready, accepted by the industry, and proven to be safe, fast, and reliable.
- The Fullerton Nut coupling system offers many benefits for the firefighter that are not
currently available by any other fire service supplier.
- Time is most critical in firefighting and time saved in hose connecting can save lives and property.
- The Fullerton Nut coupling system makes faster, secure connections without reducing
water flow, well exceeding specifications for fire hose coupling's working pressure 1000 P.S.I.
- The Fullerton Nut coupling system is fully compatible with all existing apparatus
and equipment in service today.
- No special tools are required.
- No adapters are needed in the Fullerton Nut coupling system;
and it does not change
existing tactical operations.
- It simply makes a tough job faster and easier.
Manufacturing
Sales
"Fullerton Design 2" will license various companies now marketing fire industry components.
Two examples of this interest are:
NOTE: Both companies insist upon exclusivity in their respective areas.
- LN Curtis and Sons, Oakland California.
LN Curtis has shown interest in including the Fullerton Nut coupling system in their inventory.
They operate in 10 Western states.
- WAJAX Pacific Equipment.
WAJAX has supplied the following to assist in the market potential projections.
- Number of fire departments in the 6 Western states area.
(California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Nevada)
estimates for municipal use only are 2400 to 3000.
- Forestry: unknown.
- B. L. M.: unknown.
- Average number of tender spurt apartment = 5.
- East apartment outfits one unit per year for five years.
- First look at five-year plan.
- 2400 apartments divided by 5 equals 480 per year.
- 50% ratio (actually 60%).
- 240 departments sold per year (new to ZipNut).
- Outfit one unit per year.
- Average sale per unit = $1,193.00.
- 1.6 departments sold per man (Rep.) per month.
- Total $286,320.00
- Second sell
- 3 apartments per month for Rep. minus total sales all Rep's.
(Without C. D. F. or State forestry = $572,640.)
- City municipalities example:
- San Francisco Fire Department;
- 51 Engine Companies, at 11 PCS (adapters), per Engine Company,
- $728, each, times 51 equals $37,128.00
- Orange County Fire Department;
- 80 Engine Companies, at (12.5 times 2.5) plus (4.0 times 4.0), per Engine Company,
- equals $30, 720.00
- Contra Costa Fire Department;
- 29 Engine Companies,
- equals $25,533.00
- Seattle Fire Department;
- 40 Engine Companies,
- equals $41,320.00
Southern and Northern California has:
- over 200 major departments,
- analyst B. L. M.,
- Forest Service, and
- CDF stations.
(NOTE:
The Fullerton Nut coupling system works as well, if not better, then the standard coupler in the dirt.)
Acceptance
The State Board of Fire Services of California, determined for the Fullerton Nut coupling system that the national standard for couplers,
to be sold in California, a waiver is normally required.
However, in the evaluation of the Fullerton Nut Fire coupler, such a waiver would not be needed for this design to be sold in California.
The United States Navy tested, and then accepted, the Fullerton Nut coupling system.
The Undersecretary of the Navy, Mr. Joseph Tausig, after a demonstration of the Fullerton Nut coupler system, requested a device to eliminate
fire hose is going through hatchways.
The request was fulfilled by Fullerton Design and will be ready for preproduction testing.
These units will work only with the Fullerton Nut coupling system and will
also be manufactured by "Fullerton Design 2 Systems".
The Fullerton Nut coupling system has also received much interest from Europe and Asia.
Morita has the interesting background of the Asian interest, due to its having the longest continuous manufacturing of fire emergency equipment history.
(Morita is the oldest Japanese fire equipment manufacturer.)
Morita is interested in a partnership with "Fullerton Design 2 Systems" for sales in Asia.
Negative
- The negative aspect of the Fullerton Nut coupling system is the pricing/delivery history.
-
The previous court order agreement permitted a company which was not qualified to manufacture and sell the Fullerton Nut coupler.
Due to their inexperience, the manufacturing was done in lots of 100 units; resulting in a product that was grossly overpriced.
"Fullerton Design 2" will manufacture in lots of 100,000 units,
to bring raw goods pricing in line with modern manufacturing practices; resulting in a product that will
be competitively priced while producing a profit margin from 40% to 60%.
